That being said, tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), another naturally occurring cannabinoid in hemp that’s found in full-spectrum CBD products, will show up on a drug test due to its prominence in federally illegal marijuana (cannabis sativa containing more than 0.3% THC).
How long does CBD stay in your system?
CBD may stay in your system from anywhere from a few hours to a month. The exact duration depends on factors such as the dosage you take, how often you take CBD, and your natural rate of metabolism. Additionally, CBD may be found in hair for longer periods than it would show up in, say, a urine test.
Types of CBD Extract
CBD products are made with hemp extract that’s rich in CBD. However, most hemp extract contains more than just CBD: it also contains ingredients that naturally occur along with CBD in hemp.
Here are the main types of CBD extract that you’ll find in CBD products:
Full-spectrum CBD
Full-spectrum CBD is a hemp extract that contains all the naturally occurring compounds found in the plant, including cannabinoids (like CBD, CBG, and CBN), terpenes, flavonoids, and trace amounts of THC (up to 0.3%, as allowed by federal law).
This type of extract fully harnesses the entourage effect, a phenomenon scientists have observed in which cannabinoids and terpenes work together to deliver elevated therapeutic benefits. Therefore, full-spectrum CBD is the best option for therapeutic use.
The downside of full-spectrum CBD is that it contains THC. The THC levels are so low that they won’t get you high, but they will cause you to fail a drug test. If this is something you’re concerned about, we recommend you opt for broad-spectrum or isolate CBD instead.
Broad-spectrum CBD
Broad-spectrum CBD is a type of hemp extract that retains most of the other beneficial compounds that occur alongside CBD in hemp (cannabinoids like cannabigerol (CBG) and cannabinol (CBN), as well as terpenes like myrcene and linalool), but excludes THC.
