London Pound Cake Strain Review

At Carolina Hemp Cafe, there are few things we love more than introducing people to new THCA flower strains.

And London Pound Cake by Cookies is one of those strains.

When we tried this strain for ourselves and began carrying it online, we knew immediately we’d have to write a review and tell everyone about it.

London Pound Cake is an indica-dominant hybrid that brings high THC levels and a vibrant terpene blend alongside notes of lemon, butter, and sweet berry to deliver an experience that’s relaxing, but not couchlocking.

Needless to say, there’s a lot to say about this excellent strain. Here’s our London Pound Cake strain review, plus reviews from around the community.

What is the London Pound Cake Strain?

London Pound Cake is an indica-dominant hybrid cannabis/hemp flower strain bred by Cookies, a renowned cannabis brand known for its premium genetics.

This strain is celebrated for its rich, dessert-like flavor profile, combining notes of buttery pound cake, zesty lemon, berries, and a hint of spice. Its name comes from its sweet, cake-like aroma and dense, frosty buds, which have made it a favorite among cannabis lovers.

With THC levels ranging from 23-29%, London Pound Cake delivers deep relaxation, mood elevation, and stress relief, making it ideal for evening use. But while it provides a powerful body high, it also maintains a mild cerebral uplift, helping you feel happy, creative, and at ease without excessive sedation.

While London Pound Cake was originally bred and sold for the regulated cannabis market, it’s also available as federally-legal THCA flower, which means you can buy it online and get the same potent effects and vibrant flavors as you’d get from a dispensary.

Our Review of London Pound Cake

The team at Carolina Hemp Cafe gave London Pound Cake a try. Here are thoughts on the cannabinoid and terpene content, flavor, and effects, as well as our recommendations for new users interested in this strain.

Cannabinoid and terpene content

London Pound Cake is a very potent strain, boasting THC content typically in excess of 20% (our London Pound Cake flower comes in at 21.6% THCA). This places it firmly in the type 1 THCA flower category: high THCA/THC, low CBD.

But what impresses us the most is the cannabigerol (CBG) content. This strain typically contains around 1% CBG and 3-4% CBGA (which turns into CBG when heated). This means that, despite having many indica terpenes, it’s still somewhat uplifting and not couchlocking due to the uplifting properties of CBG.

The THC-CBG synergy also means this strain has a lot of therapeutic potential, particularly for physical discomfort.

The number one terpene in London Pound Cake is caryophyllene, which contributes a spicy, peppery flavor along with anti-inflammatory properties. High amounts of limonene and myrcene in the strain contribute to its lemony, fruity flavor.

Flavor

One of the main reasons people enjoy London Pound Cake is for its flavor, and we quickly found out why. The flavor is reminiscent of a rich, buttery pound cake with zesty lemon and berry flavors. Even if it's not lemon pound cake, specifically, the flavor is definitely pound-cake like.

We also really loved the spicy, herbal undertone this strain brings. If we’re going off flavor alone, we could make an argument for London Pound Cake being the best strain ever.

Effects

To us, London Pound Cake is all about relaxation. It’s an indica-dominant hybrid, so we expected a degree of relaxation and even sedation. But we were pleasantly surprised when we felt not just relaxation, but also a light cerebral buzz that left us with feelings of happiness and creativity without the couch-lock.

Based on this, we’d recommend London Pound Cake for evening use when you’re ready to kick back, relax, and let the day’s stresses melt away. It helps you relax, but it won’t put you to sleep.

We’d recommend it for:

  • Physical discomfort
  • Mental relaxation
  • Sleep

London Pound Cake offers more than just relaxation; it also offers therapeutic benefits.

Recommendations for new users

While it’s not the most potent strain we sell or have tried, at 20%+ THCA, London Pound Cake is very potent. Because of this, we recommend you start by smoking a small amount if you’re new to THCA.

If you’re buying THCA pre-rolls, consider 0.5g or other small pre-rolls (dog walker pre-rolls are a great choice here).

Additionally, London Pound Cake may have a bit of a delayed onset, so we’d advise waiting at least 20-30 minutes (versus the usual 5-10) before assessing the effects or smoking more.

Reviews of London Pound Cake From The Cannabis Community

We enjoyed London Pound Cake, but don’t just take our word for it – here are some thoughts on this strain from around the cannabis and hemp community:

“I couldn’t believe my taste buds when I first lit up a .5 gram cone of [London Pound Cake]! It was a lemony-earthy-fruity wonderland. It actually tasted like my moms lemon pound cake I remember devouring in the 90’s; this strain really took me back to school!

Its effects were blissful; not too sedative and not too euphoric or Sativa leaning… It was just right! I would recommend it for any time of day; whether you prefer Indica or Sativa; you will love this flower!”

-Maryland Home Grow Consulting review

“This is insanely delicious and hits hard, London [Pound Cake] is definitely a top shelf strain. The flavor is buttery smooth cake, with vanilla, lemon, and an earthy spice. It's so freaking tasty. The high is very calming without being sleepy. It provides an overwhelming sense of well being. It's very relaxing though, it's not something I'd smoke for activities. This worked very well for [promoting mental relaxation], more so than many other strains I've tried. ”

-Review on Leafly

“When I first smoked this strain I came in from outside and sat on my couch, me and my friend looked at each other and both thought we would need to go out and smoke more because we didn’t feel it, but then my mouth suddenly curled up into the biggest smile ever and I got the biggest wave of euphoria I had ever had. After the wave of laughing and creativity, we got very relaxed, I remember saying it felt like we were in an early 70s movie. It was a great sleep and in the morning there was no after effect.”

-Review on Leafly

“This strain packs a decent punch and tastes great, giving you a smooth and chill high. London Pound Cake blends the best traits of its parent strains, serving up a sweet and spicy flavour with hints of diesel and nuttiness. You can also catch flavours like vanilla, butter, and lemon.”
